DC BET and the cookies on our site
Cookies are small files a website stores on your device as you browse. They help the site run, hold on to your choices and show how it is being used. This page explains, without the jargon, the cookies we rely on and how you decide what to allow, so the choice about non-essential ones stays firmly with you.
Cookies in plain terms
A cookie is simply a note the site leaves on your device so it can recognise you from one page to the next. That is what keeps you signed in as you move from a market to the cashier, instead of starting over each step. Some clear themselves the moment you close the browser; others linger, so your settings are still there when you come back.
The types we set
Cookies are not all the same, and it helps to see them by job:
| Cookie type | Why it is there |
|---|---|
| Necessary | Run core features: sign-in, account, cashier, security |
| Functional | Hold on to choices such as language and layout |
| Performance | Show, in aggregate, how the site is used |
| Marketing | Keep any messages relevant to you |
Necessary cookies cannot be turned off without breaking core parts of the site. For the rest, you are in charge.
What they do for you
The point is twofold: a site that stays secure and dependable, and one that is more comfortable to use. Necessary cookies guard your session and help shut out unauthorised access; functional ones save you re-entering settings; performance cookies show us, without naming you, which parts of the site work and which need a rethink. We do not stretch these tools beyond those purposes, and performance data is read as aggregated numbers, not as you.
Cookies from partners
Some cookies come not from us directly but from the partners we use to run things: our platform and payment providers, the tools that measure usage and, where in play, services that keep communications relevant. Those parties follow their own policies, so when a feature leans on them, cookie behaviour can reflect their settings alongside ours. We hold this to what is needed to provide and sharpen the service, no more.
Taking control
You stay in charge at any moment, by two routes:
- the banner on your first visit, where you accept or turn down the non-essential types;
- your browser settings, which let you block or clear cookies already saved.
Every browser, on phone or computer, has a panel for this in its privacy or settings menu. Do bear in mind that switching some types off can make parts of the site less smooth, so staying signed in or keeping your preferences may take a little more effort. You can change your mind whenever you wish, and withdrawing consent is as easy as giving it, with no effect on what came before.
If this page changes
We may revise this page when we add new tools or the rules move, and the current version is always the one on the site. Cookies are one corner of the wider way we handle data, which we set out in our privacy policy. Any questions, use contact us, or head back to the home page. Our service is for adults aged 18 and over.
